Cuphead - The Delicious Last Course review
Сuphead is an old-school side-scrolling run-and-gun game that borrows heavily from classics like Metal Slug, Contra, and Castlevania. Developed by StudioMDHR, the game has you playing as the titular Cuphead or his pal Mugman, who have to fight their way through a series of themed levels to repay a debt to the devil.
Graphics
Сuphead is a gorgeous game. The hand-drawn animation is some of the best I've ever seen in a video game and really brings the game to life. It's also worth mentioning that the game runs at a blistering 60 frames per second, which is a godsend in a game as fast-paced as this.
Gameplay
Сuphead is a challenging game, but it's also a lot of fun. The controls are tight and responsive, and the game is challenging enough to make you feel genuinely accomplished when you complete a level. There's also a fair amount of variety to the gameplay, as each level has its unique mechanics.
Multiplayer
Сuphead doesn't have any sort of online multiplayer, but it does have a local cooperative play. Up to two players can team up to take on the game's challenges, and it's a blast to play with a friend.
Replayability
Сuphead is a reasonably short game, but it's also the kind of game that's fun to play over and over again. Between the various difficulty levels and the wealth of secrets to discover, there's a lot of content to keep you coming back.
Conclusion
Сuphead is a must-buy for any fans of old-school side-scrolling shooters. It's a gorgeous, challenging, and incredibly fun game, and it's one of the best titles I've played in recent memory.
