Saints Row Developer, Volition, Shutters Without Warning

Volition Games, known for the Saints Row series, has been abruptly shut down as part of Embracer Group's ongoing restructuring initiative. Volition, which turned 30 this year, announced the news through a statement released on social media. They cited Embracer Group's efforts to maintain a leading stance in the gaming sector as the reason, saying strategic and operational objectives led to the tough decision.

Embracer Group offered job assistance and transition aid to affected employees. The action will potentially impact around 340 employees according to recent employment figures. The development follows a lukewarm reception of Volition's 2022 Saints Row reboot. Embracer Group blamed Saints Row's underperformance and other financial obstacles for the comprehensive restructuring program, including studio closures and job reductions announced in June.
