Instagram Set to Launch Real-Time Spotify Sharing Feature for Users

Instagram is reportedly working on a new tool that will allow users to share the Spotify tracks they are currently listening to in real-time. A tipster has indicated that this feature, known as Share from Spotify, will utilize Instagram Notes—brief text updates that can be visible in users' direct messages. Currently, Instagram users can either post 30-second clips to Notes or share songs playing in their Story, but this does not happen in real-time. This could potentially change very soon.

In a thread on Threads, Alessandro Paluzzi, a tipster and reverse engineer, shared that the upcoming 'Share from Spotify' feature might enable real-time sharing of users’ Spotify listening activities. A leaked screenshot indicates a prompt allowing users to stop sharing whenever they wish. Presently, users on the platform can share songs through Notes but are limited to a manual search within Instagram's catalog. They can select specific parts of a track, but the shareable duration is capped at 30 seconds. With the introduction of this new feature, it is anticipated that Instagram may allow linkage to Spotify accounts, granting access to an extensive music library across diverse genres and facilitating automatic current track sharing.

Moreover, the collaboration between Instagram and Spotify could extend further. Technologist Chris Messina mentioned to TechCrunch that a new 'SpotifyiOS.framework' was integrated into Instagram, coinciding with the release of Instagram version 338.0 for iOS. This development suggests that the partnership may lead to enhanced music-related functionalities within Instagram, utilizing Spotify's extensive platform.

Recently, Instagram introduced a feature in partnership with singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter. This new option allows users to incorporate songs on their profiles that reflect their mood or preferences. According to Instagram, these audio tracks will not autoplay but can be played through a music icon. One of the initial songs to utilize this feature was a brief teaser of Carpenter's latest release, “Taste,” which came out last Friday. This functionality is now accessible to users on both Android and iOS devices.
