Gunfire Games Enhances Remnant 2 Experience with DLSS Fix for PC Game Pass

Gunfire Games has addressed an important technical issue with Remnant 2 on the PC Game Pass platform by implementing a patch that rectifies the previously non-functional DLSS feature. This improvement, which also applies to AMD's FSR and Intel's XeSS upscaling technologies, follows the sudden Game Pass appearance of both Remnant 2 and its forerunner, Remnant: From the Ashes, earlier in the week.

Initial reports on the social platform X — the successor to Twitter — highlighted the problem, where the development team stated their awareness of DLSS compatibility troubles with the PC Game Pass version and mentioned related upscaling issues. They expressed their intention to resolve these concerns promptly.

The team at Gunfire Games also provided clarity on several aspects of Remnant 2's Game Pass version through updates on the platform. They confirmed that interoperability for gameplay between PC and Xbox platforms is functional, cloud saves can be transferred seamlessly between the Windows Store (PC) and the Xbox console, and one-time purchases on either platform will carry over, making any downloadable content accessible across both Xbox and the Windows Store.

Remnant 2 has made its global launch and is available for both PC gamers and console enthusiasts. Despite the game's enhancements over its predecessor, the sequel has received a mixed reception regarding its technical and aesthetic execution. While Remnant 2 harnesses the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, offering visually striking detail in some segments and minimizing graphical popping through Epic's Nanite technology, the overall consistency in visual fidelity has been questioned. The character designs come off as antiquated, and while certain in-game environments capture the eye, places like the excessively intricate and congested swampy terrain of Yaesha fall short aesthetically.

On PS5, Remnant 2 is confronted with performance inconsistencies, challenging players to choose between the Balanced and Performance modes. Neither appears to provide a steady frame rate, with some players preferring the more reliable 30fps Quality mode. Additionally, despite the mode chosen, outputs are somewhat blurry, which is uncharacteristic when compared to other leading contemporary titles that boast sharper visuals. It's clear that not even the superior capabilities of PC gaming have been able to avoid these performance dilemmas.
